Ok, my husband is in the Army and we are attending his formal ball in 2 weeks. I bought a long, formal gown. It is a black halter style dress with silver beads and jewels all along the top. I have no idea what color of eyeshadow to wear!! I have brown hair and brown eyes.My skintone is light to medium. I know silver is the most likely option, but I dont really like silver eyeshadow on myself. Does anyone have any other ideas besides silver??
try anything smokey, anything from a dark brown to a charcoal color. Put some dark eyeshadow on your eyelid, just above your eyeliner (use dark brown or charcoal) and then u put some lighter colour on your upper eyelid. If you use brown, then use brown mascara, if you wear charcoal, use black mascara.
Remember to apply your mascara twice and when u are finished, use ur brush, dont put it in the mascara again, to colour the tips of your eyelashes. ur eyes will look smokey, misterious and sexy. And it will go beautifully with your dark hair...

I would just do something more natural.
Maybe a dark chocolate brown on the lids. Taupe in the crease and a little bit of white on brownbone and in the corners(this will open your eyes up) Finish with curling your eyelashes and using two coats of black mascara. I use maybelleine full and soft. I recommend it. A little smudged chocloate eyeliner on the outside corners would add to the look.
You shouldn't match your eyeshadow to your dress.
Maybe you should go for smokey eyes. Violet maybe? Or maybe just some white, light taupe, and some liquid black eyeliner.

i have been in a ball,once,and my great grand mother,was a cosmetic. so make sure,youfirst put powder on your eyes,that kinda macth your skin tone! wait for few mintues,and take brush and glide it where you putthe powder,then choose one color that is general(brown,green red,blue....etc........)one you picked a general color,pick three in the same family(light meduim,dark.)
there are three ways you can do this!
one is that you can take the spongy makeover tool,you get when putting eye shadow.and make a small line,with the dark family color,close to your lashe line.then,take meduim,and make it thicker,and then put a small,or big line,of the light one,and,finich it.
the other one is doing it the oppisite,(like,starting with the light one,and not the dark one! .)so you can start wit the light one,by making it close to the lash line.......and the meduim,one thicker.................and the other dark one..............
when you choose any of these ,and you don't like one of them,just pick the first or the second,take a brush ,and glide it light on the colors,so you a mix!

You should probably go for a dark chocolate, don't match the same color to your dress! If you have really dark hair, go lighter. Lighter hair, do darker. It's color contrast, and it'll look good on your dress!

First off, that's a very lovely style.
Secondly, it all depends on what type of hair you have. If you have very straight or very curly hair, you might just want to go have it done at a salon if you can find an opening somewhere.
However, if that's not an option, here's what you do:
For very straight hair, you'll need a big-barreled curling iron. Don't get one of those skinny ones because you won't get that loose, flowy look. Take a strip of hair, not too chunky, and brush it out and spray it with a hair spray. Then roll it on the curling iron. Hold it there for about 20-30 seconds. Very carefully and gently, let go of the hair with the iron, and let it fall naturally. Spray again. Do this until your entire head of hair is done. Then style it as it is in the picture with some cute barettes.
If your hair is super curly, you'll need to flat iron it first, then go through the steps above.
If you're lucky, and you have wavy hair, you'll just need to curl bits of pieces of your hair to make sure the curl sticks for the night, and spray it with a quality hair spray.
It will be a lot of work, but it will look awesome.

For one, noone knows anything about your hair. How long is it?? Is it thin, thick?? Highlights?? Most people do a soft up swept style, leaving a few strands hanging around the face...Go to a salon and have a consultation done.
If you don't already have those curls, use large rollers to make them, or a large-diameter hot iron (like 1.5"). Don't brush them though - use a wide-tooth comb. Use a bit of loose-hold hairspray to avoid frizz.
Herbal Essences makes some great products for curls like that, or evening hairdos.

try takeing a shower and don't dry your hair! curl your hair when it's still wet! i think the curls would stay longer in you hair!
Wash your hair the night before. When the hair is too clean it's more "slippery" and the curl gets looser easier. Also, after you've washed your hair, put in a leave in styler (such as potion 9 from sebastian) that will be activated when the heat from the curling iron touches your hair. You can also purchase curl setting sprays that are meant to be used with curling irons, KMS Curl up has one called Hot Pressed. That one works wonders! It will literally hold the toughest to curl hair. Goodluck!

I think semi-formal would mean either up or down. Or,first curl your hair all over with medium curls. Then why not take the top half and put in a loose pony-tail. Tease some of the top part (like above the bang area)of the hair and wrap loosely around the ponytail, to cover the band. Then you can put something pretty and small on each side like a couple sparkly combs. I think if you just wear your hair just a 'little' special it'll be fine. That way it will also be comfortable. If your hair is short, tease it out a little more than usual, spray it and voila! You'll be beautiful. You are a girl aren't you?
You can buy your self some nice studded hair clips or cute flowers to arrange nicely on your ponytail or gel back your hair in neat bun and arrange cute flowers on one side .or simply wash your hair and condition well later apply anti frizz and blow dry them in lose curls and then to finish your hair style apply light hair spray to keep curls in place, be careful not to over spray your hair that will make them look sticky.

I would say blow dry your hair so that is has a smooth and sleek texture and a little straight.
take your "bangs" and the hair that lines the front of your forehead or "crown" and pin them back with bobby pins.

Well to acheive a wavy look there are a few different ways to do so.
1. Use a 3 barrel curling iron to add a few waves.
2. Lightly use a regular curling iron.
3. Get hair damp and brad it, sleep with it braid make sure it is fully dry before you take it down.

you have to decide if you want it up or down. If you wear it down then do something special to it and just pull bac a tiny bit so it does not go in your eyes. Have some pretty curls if you have it down. If you have it up then do something special with it you would not normally do. A french twist is nice. If you are not wearing much jewelry you might want to wear a nice hair accessory. Remember right now the style is to wear one big accessory and not a bunch of accessories. I always wore my hair down for formals just with a pretty barette or wore it curly with just a little pulled back.

I work in a restaurant, its not classy or formal just a bar and grill-- Personally, i would never go to work looking like i just woke up, but some people do. However my question is really regarding the fact that they just hired a girl that looks like shes done meth the past couple months. Her teeth are green or missing, hair always a mess, eyes sunken in and its just not attractive. If you went out- how much does appearance matter, would you tip less? or more so she could go brush her teeth?
or if the looked like they just woke up- does that matter??

I would be afraid to eat my food after seeing an unpleasant looking server. I don't think that I would tip them more or less due to their looks, but I would re-think going back to that restaurant or bar. This is a job, and the server should look like they care and want the job.

I know that this sounds judgmental but if I see someone like that cooking my food or serving my food I have been known to cancel an order. Water and soap are cheap and so are toothpaste/brush. One time we were traveling and I was at a waffle house, this guy that was cooking our breakfast had more underneath his fingernails than the grill had. I cancelled our order and left. It's gross.

For my senior prom, I had my hair half up half down and it looked really pretty. The front of my head had all twists, and the back of my hair was all curly, and a few pieces were pinned so that my hair was half up. I have a winter formal dance tonight and I have no clue on how 2 do my hair. My curling iron broke, I dont have any rollers nothing! I only have hair spray, gel, rubber band things, and a brush. make you hair messy using the hair spray( but not "scruched", you dont want it to look wet) then if you have a headband try this style, by just pulling it back. Wear long earrings so that your hair is not the main focus.

After you are finished screaming, try the braid idea, as this will make your hair wavy, it will look nice.
ok. since your hair obviously isn't going to be the "wow factor" of your outfit, try doing really extravagant make up.
since it's a halter dress, i would recommend wearing you hair up. try scrunching it and then putting it in a "messy" but a pretty clip.
for makeup, since our dress is black, do something very shimmery on your eyes with lots of mascara and eyeliner (make sure it's not TOO much...). then go for a pale pink lipstick that'll last all night, and wont look too overpowering.

take the gel put a wad in your hair and brush it that will give you straight hair
grad the rubber bands and put up the sides of your hair up like bring it up
umm make some braids
ahh i think scrunching is formal just scrunch your hair and staighten your bangs with the gel and bruch then put some hair spray(hair spray is bad for the inviroment=[ )

here's an easy way to pull your hair up in a bun and it looks very formal:
1. to make your bun you first take some clean socks and cut the toe out. begin rolling them to make them look like a donought with a hole in the middle. use more socks till it's the desired size you would like your bun to be.
2. pull your hair in a ponytail, where ever you want your bun to be (I do mine on top of my head)
3. pull your ponytail through the sock donought thingy you made in step one.
4. spread the excess ponytail hair over and around the sock to cover it up and pin hair hair under the sock to make it stayor use another ponytailer to hold it down.
*it's pretty simple once you get started and only takes like 10 minutes to do. I used to wear my hair like this all the time when I didn't want to fix it. if you do it on top of your head it looks really elegant.. hope this helps.*

Look like a superstar..dont make your hair so perfect and gelled down!

take a shower. after coming out..dry your hair with a towel so that your hair is not tripping wet but still wet. then take your hands and push your hair up so that it makes curls in your hair. then take the gel and spread it through out all of your hair so that the curls will stay in place. use the hairspray to finialize it. i suggest putting in two rounds of gel and hairspray. take a small "shark" clip and take the top of your hair and clip it back. hope you like it =]

I have a black dress, strapless, gathered at bust then drops down under bust(so baby doll style dress i guess), a champaign coloured ribbon with a bow around the waist, and goes to my knees.

if its a strapless you should were dangly earings also you should wear a simple necklace and probably a bangle in gold

Dark wash skinny jeans, a tight (well a fitted) black shirt some pointy toe high heels ( if you have any maybe in a bright color like red or if you prefer simple black ones) curly hair and shimmery makeup that way you will catch his eye with the shimmer in yours lol. with the makeup concentrate more on your eyes, like i said with a shimmery shadow like in a light brown and do a simple lip (gloss)...oh and you cant go wrong with adding some black eyeliner on the inside of ur eyes :) and dont leave out the obvious like mascara but dont go too heavy on the foundation cus you dont wanna leave a mark on his shirt if you hug or slow dance. hope u look nice with whatever you wear and have fun. and dont forget perfume! spray and walk into it to keep it light you dont wanna fumigate the boy.

Wear a semi-formal dress, like a homecoming dress. Get one that flows away from your stomach. You're bound to find plenty of homecoming dresses on sale since its way past homecoming season.
I think you should wear Jeans and a nice dressy top with nice heels.

i'd go with either a smokey eye, or keep it natural looking with just like a beige eyeshadow and mascara... with a black dress you have alot of options, so pretty much anything would work.

try to look "warm" so dont use black eyeliner (i have hazel eyes and black makes me look like an emo sl*t) use like a brown eyeliner
i really like the brand "jordana" from walgreens for my eyes, they have amzing eyeliner shades
use a little face powder and then top it off with a bit or reddish blush (but not to much)
use a base lipstick color that u like (i personally like dark red/ marshino cherry red/ or barbie pink) and top it off with a tiny bit of sparkly gloss (the jordanna light pink one called "stawberry is really good) and then top it off with clear gloss
use mascara to make ur lashes extra long

i have hip lenght hair and its really really thick and really wavy. its takes almost 3 hours to straighten all of it...but what my problem is, is that i wanted to do spirals all over, and i got a hair curler but its not working so well..i dont want to just wear my hair down because thats what i normally do for school, but i cant think of anything else that will look good but not put my hair up. please help! pictures would be amazing! thanks bunches! ^_^

C.J to the rescue! First you need to go to a store and find "panteen expressions" they come in different hair colors: blonde,brunette,red,and,black. Buy the shampoo%26amp;conditioner for extra glisten. Take a shower the morning of your formal and use the panteen expressions. Lather,rinse,repeat, do that 2x. When your finshed pat your hair until damp.
Take a good quality moouse and lather the tips of your hair. If you have curlers USE THEM i repeat USE THEM!! Let your curlers heat up if they are heatable. Roll them from tip to root. let them stay in for about 20 minutes. When 20 minutes has elapsed, take them out carefully. When their out, your hair will be bouncy, wavey, and volumized! Wait 10 minutes for your hair to set then use a strong hold, high quality, hairspray. Be cautious about static (the #1 killer of good hair) try not to take clothing on and off often. Try to keep you hair from touching objects. If you want to "kick up" your hair, try adding hair glitter its fun and all the girls will be jealous of your perfect hair. Now, go to that formal and have some FUN!! Good Luck!! :-)

I don't have pics to post but I can give you a description of a really pretty simple half up half down style.
First pull the hair from the front and put it into a low ponytail(center of head) secure with a rubber band.
Next take small sections of the top of the ponytail and gently roll the hair tucking the ends in and pin in place.(make sure you use bobby pins and place them down into the ponytail) Continue till you have done this to half of the ponytail you should have half a circle or a fan shape.
Next curl your hair any way you want to very easy to do looks really pretty and you can add decorative flowers, barrettes, anything or leave it alone.

i really love doing make up and hair. im already enrolled in a cosmetology school but are there any schools who teach that art of make up. i ve heard of dust till dawn and im waiting on my face forward by kevin aucoin but im still interested in formal training
Face Foward.....is a good book....Making Faces is better ...both by Kevin Aucoin (a true master).
Your on the right track. Where do you live? There are some great makeup schools in LA..but are pretty pricey. $5k for a year but you learn glamour, cinema, special effects makeup.
Get your license and then start going on CraigsList for some gigs....experience is the best training, that and networking.

Well you can wear a soft red spagghetti strap with some dark red shoes. You can find them in Ross and all stores that sell dress's. Sears, kohls ...I know you'll look just fine!

I have short/medium length frizzy wavy hair that curls in humidity. I'm thinking about getting it cut, but I can't decide how short or whether or not to have bangs.
Okay, I appreciate anyones opinions, but for any experts here are the details:
I have a sort of heart shaped face
My hair is normally poofy
I never have time to do anything fancy in the mornings (but I would like something that would be adaptable for formal stuff)
I don't like really short hair, I've had the pixie cut waaaaay too many times.

try to grow it out, once it gets longer, get some layers, but still keep the length, when u have layers, u can do anything with your hair! try not to straighten ur hair, it will only ruin it and fry ur hair! try to curl it sometimes!- a curling iron doesn't have as much heat and it's not as bad as a flat iron!

shower every night and in the morning hair spray ur hair so it will stay striaght and not frizzy.
You're going to need some product in that hair! Redken align 012 works wonders. It makes it straight and defrizzes at the same time, I know because without it my hair is frizzy and wavy. If you're short on cash, try Straighten up creme by sunsilk. As for the haircut, I think you're better off going and getting some hair magazines and finding a cute haircut of a girl with your face shape. I was going to say pixie cuts look good on heart shaped faces, but you already said you have that, good luck!
If you don't already have it you need lots of product, a shampoo and conditioner for coarse/curly hair, a leave on cream conditioner, a shine enhacing smoothing serum, and a creamy pommade.
If you have the right weapons, you can do any haircut you want and make it work for you.
Since you have a heart shaped face, I would suggest a cut that is just above the shoulders or to your chin, with a very blunt line and razored layering throughout.

u can either rebound it n dye with some copper red/brown.add some curls especially at the side cos u have a heart shaped face.or u can curl yr whole hair....ionic curl..dun overcurl it or else the effect will be drastic.either a mixed style or a pure style will do for u..remember..put some color onto it so it will add vibrance and energy to yr face.gd for a day's start.it will freshen u up.

n try to use some conditioner to help w yr hair.

,we got a semi formal at school and I wanna dye my hair brown, so i looked it up in the internet and came up with temporary hair stuff, and semi permanent. then they had like hair powder and stuff. Im a dude(no offence to dudes who know about this stuff), and i dont really know alot about this stuff so can anyone help me with it. I need like a sorta gold brown colour.
Don't despair , you can go to any local drug store or walmart and find exactly what you re looking for. They have temp. hair dye that is in a liquid form, you just comb it through. Be careful if you already have dark hair..because the temp. stuff may not show up like you want it too. Hope I've been of some help to you.

I just got the dance form today. It's for the end of the year formal and the theme is "A Night To Remember" and the decoration colors will be black and gold.. but i don't think that means that the dress has to be black or gold.. its going to be on June 5th and i know that is a while from now but i want to get my dress early. im tall.. 5' 8" .. im 14 with tanish skin and dark brown hair with caramel highlights.

Just remember , HAVE FUN and wear something comfortable as well as cute. i like the spandex-y dresses but i didnt see to many online. JCPenneys has a ton in-store though

of course you could always go with a different color, just try to stick with something solid rather than a multicolored dress or something..

hi guys. going to a wedding in 3 wks. wedding is "formal" but its a small country town. parents of the bride and bride have notified me to wear a cocktail dress and men should wear slack and a long sleeved shirt with tie (therefore its not OVERLY FORMAL just "nice" stuff) i have a strapless, black, knee length "little black dress" i can wear, i was a bit iffy about wearing black but both the bride and the mother of the bride have said not to go buy anything else just wear that, so instead of buying a new dress i want to jazz it up with some new accessories. if you were wearing the dress i have described, what accessories would you wear with it? %26amp;%26amp; what shoes??
